If you prefer a more flexible schedule or helping out behind-the-scenes please consider one of these ministries.
A dedicated team of parishioners brings creativity and commitment to decorating the church for every liturgical season, including special celebrations like Christmas and Easter. If you enjoy working behind the scenes or have a flair for design, this ministry could be a perfect match for your talents.
We are always eager to welcome new volunteers!
Volunteers set up the sacristy, gathering space, and sanctuary so that it is ready for the sacristans and the liturgical ministers when they arrive for Mass. This happens on Monday and Friday of each week. Inventory is checked and items are set in their correct places. Scheduling is approximately once a month. Training and a checklist are provided. This is a wonderful way to contribute to the behind-the-scenes work of our liturgies.
The votive candles in St. Mary's Chapel are lit frequently, and each day, the old candles need to be removed, excess wax removed, and new votives replaced. Volunteers are assigned weekly so this ministry can be suited to fit your schedule. Volunteers take the used candles home to clean out the wax and return them to church the following week, putting in fresh votive candles. Training is provided.
Cleaning and care for the liturgical linens used at Mass (purificators, corporals, and altar cloths) requires patience and a special kind of care because they can become stained by the Precious Blood. Volunteers pick up dirty linens between Tuesday and Thursday and return them between Tuesday and Thursday of the following week. Volunteers are typically scheduled on a rotating basis every six weeks.
Those with sewing skills are needed to assemble pre-made kits for small, individual blankets that are given to each infant who is baptized. This can be done at your convenience. You may be contacted if we are running short. Directions are provided.
